The new emerging bloc which is increasing its shape and size every year however suffers from major flaw as it so far has not developed a media of its own to highlights its activities to its own people and the rest of the world.
The five BRICS countries represent almost 3 billion people, comprising of 40 percent of the world population, with a combined nominal GDP of USD 16.039 trillion (20 percent world GDP) and 18 percent of the world economy.
Media from the BRICS is duty bound to develop a favorable climate of public opinion and provide assistance in all aspects form the exchanges and cooperation between enterprises from all member countries.

It is an irony that the BRICS member countries which have strong media in their own countries have not yet formed a collective media which is the most important necessity to disseminate vital information for the people of these countries.

Considering that economic growth is the base of BRICS, a focused BRICS media news outlet is most important to highlight the successes and weaknesses of their economies, investment opportunities in diverse industrial and business ventures, market reports besides promoting cultural and people to people contacts.

Such a venture can incorporate and integrate vast news generated by the well-developed media in the member countries backed by team of dedicated media personnel to put out text, audio and visual reports.

A joint media initiative with wide participation of media outlets from all the five countries can only become a dynamic reality with the active promotion of governments of the member countries.

To start with China Economic Net (http://www.ce.cn) can develop a new platform called "BRICS News" with comprehensive weekly or monthly format backed by daily online updates from the member countries. Such a venture could bring about linkages between the media institutions in the five countries.

"BRICS News" network in English, Chinese, Russian and Portuguese requires a massive editorial effort which, if backed by proper funding and support from the government and media from all the five countries, could become a backbone for the new emerging bloc.

Thank you.
